Ian Anstee

Ian graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a Distinction in Professional Performance in 1994. Since this time he has travelled extensively performing as part of chamber ensembles, as a soloist and orchestral musician.

Ian has lectured at The Royal Northern College of Music, Royal Scottish Academy of Music and The Royal College of Music helping musicians give high quality musical experiences in all concert settings. Ian has been a regular speaker at UK and international conferences about this topic.

Ian is developing a role to help promote the diverse career paths music students can achieve; he primarily does this with Live Music Now by visiting nearly all UK Music Colleges and other associated institutions and also by visiting music colleges and universities throughout the world. In 2009 Ian will visit South East Asia and Australia.

Playing the Tuba is a very important part of Ian’s work process. Ian is proud to be supported by York Brass Instruments. He performs on a York Preference EEb Tuba.

Ian performs with The Thalia Ensemble and The Ash Grove Ensemble in all manner of settings. He performs concerts with children, young people at risk of offending, in healthcare settings, community venues and concert halls.
